Motiwala Education and Welfare Trust is registered body under BPT Act 1950, registration number E-540,as Public Charitable Trust for purpose of social welfare activities and propagation of primary to higher education. It was founded in February 1989, although its social activities had started few years prior to that. Homoeopathic Medical Camps were conducted in remote tribal village Surgana, Dang, where Motiwala family felt that, there was serious need for rural doctors, this inspired us to produce physicians who would serve tribal villages/ pada’s (Hamlets). With meagre resources, magnanimous determination, founder Trustee Mrs. Zobie Motiwala a small entrepreneur, Dr. F. Motiwala and Dr. (Mrs.) A. F. Motiwala decided to start Homoeopathic Medical College.
As saying goes, “where there is a will there is way”, on 27/10/1989, Government of Maharashtra gave permission to start DHMS program with intake of 50 seats.College started in a 3000 sq.ft. basement in a rented residential building. On 01.01.1990, with just 2 students strength, 6 teachers, 4 supporting staff with 25 bedded attached Nursing Home.Later management decided to move out from this basement and moved into state-of-the-art well constructed commercial building by renting out 9000 sq.ft. for College and 3,000 sq.ft. for hospital.
One year of being in this premises, space felt short and trust had become capable of dreaming bigger, when college moved into 6 acres of land on outskirts of city. Onion sheds, Poultry shed, Cow stable were converted into hospital, administrative offices, classrooms, laboratories, although these were in tin sheds. Team of teachers were the strength, quality of education was second to none and results were a surprise for all prevailing DHMS colleges of Maharashtra.Today, the college has state of the art infrastructure with vision of smart classrooms.
In 1995 Central Council of Homoeopathy stopped DHMS program and replaced it with five and half years degree program and we got affiliated to Pune University in 1996. Soon we began to top the University in faculty of Homoeopathy. By year 1999, the government permitted us the intake of 100 students per year for the BHMS program and soon we were affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Institution in year 2002 got ISO 9001:2000 certification after training and coaching of all teaching and supporting staff.The college is certified with the ISO 9001-2008 certificate by KVQA for quality management system in the field of medicine.
The college obtained “A” grade accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore in the year 2003. On 2nd November 2021, the college had commenced the process to obtain NAAC Accreditation once again and submitted the college SSR. The NAAC peer team visited our college on 4th, 5th and 6th April 2022. The college excelled in all fields and obtained B++Grading during this assessment.
In the month of July 2023, NCH decided to obtain a rating of homeopathic medical colleges with the help of NABET under the Quality Council of India. Rating of colleges was done under 11 frameworks and parameters, on which colleges submitted write-ups and supporting documents. The QCI inspecting team visited our college on 26th and 27th July 2024 and the college received obtained “A+” grading during this inspection.
The college has completed 36 Years, since it’s foundation and has provided quality medical education to over 2000 student’s. Reminiessence, a 5 year alumni meet was organized in the college on 25th & 26th January, 2025 which was a grand success. now QCI,NEBAT Visitation is happening on 30 & 31Jan, 2026.
